100.7

That's the temp that my poor baby woke with today.

Which explains yesterday's experience. :o) My next clue that he might be sick? He slept for 13 straight hours. If you have read previous postings on sleep, you'll understand why this is unusual behavior for the Munch.

Here's hoping that my own headache and aversion to breakfast are just sympathy pains.

Pukeasauras Rex (TMI Warning)

I'm pretty sure the only thing worse than your child puking all over another child's crib...

...would be that same child puking at brunch, in a restaurant, where he is meeting your seldom-seen college buddies for the first time (none of whom have kids and one of whom is eight months pregnant), while you are catching his vomit in your hands and saying "Oh my god oh my god oh my god" over and over.

Pancakes with a side of mortification, anyone?

IF I Were Crafty...

...which I'm not, I would make this tree for Spring/Easter decor in the house. I would use blown eggs that I delicately painted and decorated. I would cut the tree limbs from my yard.

Like it? This site is wonderful for you crafty people.

To Do:
1. Move
2. To a house with storage
3. Buy crafting materials
4. Be crafty
5. Stun others with my craftiness :o)

Ack. Maybe next year.

A Real Playdate

This is the first time we've gotten together with Mommies and Babies, when the Babies actually played together...well, okay, separately, but together in the same room. It's a start!

The biggest lesson I learned from today was to always bring the fancy SLR camera with me when children are involved. There were so many adorable photo ops that I missed because the point-and-click was too slow! (You might recognize the Girl Baby from a previous photo session. She's the one on the right.)

Show Off

In the last two months, The Muncher (a more appropriate name as of late) has demonstrated that he can roll over from back to front...exactly three times. Evidently, his motto is "roll when necessary."

All of a sudden, however, he's unstoppable, and has even figured out that performing this new trick can get him better access to toys!

Jet-Setters

We recently returned from another trip to Scottsdale, so the Munchkin could hang with his Grandpa and Grammie.

Our flights (both ways) were less than stellar. On the way out of Chicago, we hit some weather that cancelled our 1:30 PM flight. We were re-booked on the 7:00 PM flight that ultimately took off at 9:00 PM. So we took two trips to and from the airport (and give mad props to Grand Dede, who shlepped us there and back!), landed in AZ at 12:30 AM Chicago time--though, since we had just switched to Daylight Savings the night before, who had any clue what time it really was!

On the return flight, Brad and I didn't have seats together. Upon requesting this at the gate, we were told they had no ability to get us together, so Munch and I sat in a row of 3 seats, while Brad sat a few rows behind. When the occupants of the two empty seats next to me showed up, they also had an infant (named THEO, for those readers who will understand how crazy that is!!!). Three adults + 2 babies = 5 people. The flight attendant noticed this AFTER we had departed from the gate and started freaking out at us about how she was only allowed to have 4 people in a row because of the number of oxygen masks, and then frantically waved her hands at the head flight attendant to get him to stop the plane. Nice. So I calmly mention that my husband is sitting a few rows behind us and perhaps she could ask the woman next to him to switch places with me, which would solve both the oxygen mask problem and allow Brad and I to sit together. Naturally, however, she ignored the second part of the suggestion, so Brad and I ended up switching seats. What a pain.

In between these flights, however, we had a lovely time. Munch had his first experience in a pool, in a high chair, and at a baseball game (Cubs, no less!). We are noticing that he is much more aware of his surroundings, and especially when another adult (read: not me or Brad) is holding him. Evidently, in his head this translates to, "WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO TAKE ME AWAY FROM MY PARENTS?!?!?! NONONONONONONONONO!!!" And that, folks, is the quote of the month. :o)

Jumperoo!

We've had a lot of people ask, "What's a Jumperoo?"

Please observe, as the 6 month old child demonstrates:

My Mom is a Slacker

I guess I can't blame her too much. She's always got a lot on her plate.

However, since we've had a few activities at my house in the last few weeks that haven't been reported, I--the Munchkin--am taking over the blogging for today.

A few weeks ago, my Grandma Esther threw me a really fun party where I got to meet a bunch of her girlfriends. I tried to be on my very best behavior, and even let a few of them hold me for a while. I am increasingly aware when I'm not with my parents (my favorite people on the planet), though, so my patience with strangers has been waning, of late. Anyway, we had some really great food and cake, talked to Uncle Scott on the computer, played with Melanie the Cat, and did lots of giggling. Thanks for the great party, Grandma! (You can see photos here.)

Another fun event in my life happened a few weeks ago when Mom took me to a music class for the first time. We were "just checking things out," she told me, but I think we might sign up for regular classes starting in April. During our class, Miss Mary sang lots of songs with us, we played with balls, did some free dancing, made noise on instruments (I picked the jingle bells, of course), etc. It was a blast! My favorite part was watching all the other kids in the class, especially the ones that are older than me. Boy, that crawling, walking and running stuff looks F-U-N!!!

A few Fridays ago, we had pretty warm weather for Chicago in March. So Mom and I met her friend from high school (and her two girls) for a trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo. I was a little more aware of the animals than I was the last time. The monkeys are still my favorites, but the polar bears gave them a run for their money! I watched them swim, dive, and haul their giant bodies out of the water.

That wraps it up for now! Hopefully my Mom will get her act together to post about our recent trip to Arizona.

6 Months

12 lbs 4 oz
25 inches tall (long?)
HC: 16 3/4

Dear Munchkin,

You are the light in my life, the spring in my step, the reason I'm still sleep-deprived. :o) You are my inquisitive, curious little George; you are adorably roly-poly. You are snips and snails and puppy-dogs' tails. You are six months old.

Things about you:

- You have taken to grabbing an object (most frequently with your right hand, to my chagrin) and flinging it into the air, as if to proclaim yourself the Statue of Liberty.

- Often, you will hold objects and twist them side to side, as though examining them from all angles like the little scientist you are.

- After three weeks of dangling like a wet mop in your Jumperoo, you finally figured out how to jump...and you insist on jumping ONLY on your right foot--well, toes, really.

- You are working very hard to only use your pacifier in the crib and the car. In fact, during cuddle time with Mommy this morning, you very deliberately plucked your paci out of your mouth, and plugged it into mine. How clever.

- You are bound and determined to drink from my glass, regardless of what's in it! Now you can anticipate the water rushing into your mouth and you make this funny little gasping noise before it gets there.

- In fact, you would like to have everything that goes in my mouth. The other day, you were so distracted by my gum-chewing that you wouldn't eat.

- You find the silliest things silly. Most recently the song that goes "That's the way, uh huh, uh huh, I like it," was profoundly hysterical. Also, basically any noise/movement/face your Dad makes cracks you up.

- And our favorite: When we put you down in your crib, you immediately smush your Pooh blanket into your face and roll to your right side....just like us.

Funny Faces of February

(Okay, so that last one wasn't so terribly "funny," but I think it's funny that when he cries, he throws his head to one side.)
