"Another [Closing], Another Show"

(L-R: Charlie Brown, Sally, Snoopy, Lucy, Woodstock, (Munchkin), Linus, Peppermint Patty)

Oh, but I will miss this show. I will miss these wonderful, hard-working, professional, dedicated, talented, hilarious, instinctual cast members. No offense to previous casts, but I've never music directed a group before that was as prepared as this one. And, um, I've certainly never MDed a cast that sounded as good as this collective group.

TYA shows are my favorites, I've determined. Rarely in other live theatre do you hear gems from the audience like, "But Dad, I can't be quiet!" or during a song entitled, Where Did That Little Dog Go (sung rhetorically by Charlie Brown, about his dog growing up too fast), "Where did Snoopy go? Is he lost?" The world of theatre through the eyes of a child is a special, special thing.

Farewell, fellow Snoopers. See you in the next show--wherever that may be.

Le Sigh.

Dear Readers:
I SWEAR I was completely ready to settle in and write a few posts tonight...I know how much you hate neglect. But it's been a crappy health week for us here at the Rose Garden, and my body has decided that the curtain call to the stomach flu I had DURING THE SUNDAY MATINEES (!!!) is a crippling case of (self diagnosed) wrist tendonitis. The pain reminds me a lot of the Great Bi-Weekly Trips to Physical Therapy of 1997, but in the other hand. In fact, if I had a regular doctor and/or a PPO, I'd head straight to the Cortisone Injectioner. I think it's caused by an enormous amount of toddler toting, lately, but also a few moves in the show that I did a zillion times last week. Anyway, I'm typing with a splint on, which really defeats the purpose of resting the tendons, I'm guessing.

But stay tuned! because there are going to be some fun posts coming up. Highlights include The Munch's 18 month "anniversary of birth," a video tour of the house (digression: I was going to wait until the house was "finished" before shooting footage, but I realized that Teh Internets might be obsolete by the time that happens. So instead of showing you the house with new paint, rugs, complete furniture, and etc., I'll show it to you with toys scattered all over and dirty dishes in the sink. Sound good? Good.), an update on "Snoopy," etc.

Thanks for staying with me during these boring inconsistent times.

The Times...They are a Changin'

As you may or may not recall, I'm a huge reader of other blogs. I use Bloglines to keep track of all my readings. Usually, I click on the title of the blog and read the posts there, rather than in the reader (the actual Bloglines site), but lately--since I'm waaaay behind--I've been reading in the reader (starting to sound convoluted) because it can sort the posts from oldest to newest. (If you're confused, it's because you haven't used Bloglines or care about readers. Skip to the next post.)

THEN I realized that my own blog wouldn't allow me to do such a thing because I have been writing "expandable posts," (where you have to click on the "read more" link). So we're going to try an experiment: no more clicking on "read more." You're welcome! or Sorry! depending on your preference.

Happy Hallmark Holiday Weekend!

Did You Hear? It Snowed.

There were late-night antics in our backyard on Tuesday evening. The camera was acting up in the darkness, so I couldn't possibly capture the GLEE with which the Munchkin enjoyed his sled ride....and the GLEE with which Oliver ran after the sled, doing a happy doggie dance. We're pretty sure he would have been even happier if we would have allowed him to ride in the sled, since he's part human.

(It actually got to 12.5 inches by the next morning.)

Man, when I don't have a commute, I love the snow. It looks so pretty in our yard. And Brad has a new snowblower. So that's fun.

XLIV

I was recently informed by our friends, "Huey's Mom and Dad," that evidently we've started a little Super Bowl Celebration tradition--completely without realizing it!

For the third year in a row, The K's and the R's spent Sunday evening together, with our boys who are--you'll remember--eight days apart in age. It was incredible to see them play together so nicely, especially since The Munchkin is notoriously opposed to sharing his toys of late.

My Grizzly Adams and Son (and yes...I LOVE the beard!)

True to football form, The Munch got himself quite the shiner when he tried to tackle our bed frame. You know it's bad when it's turned blue before you can even pick him up to comfort him. Ouch.

The boys.

A Random Assortment

There hasn't been a lot of picture-taking during the last few months. It's a combination of a) moving, b) batteries not charged, and c) my current frustration that my photos never turn out as nice as some other people I can think of (COUGH Kage, COUGH Fancy Toast). But I've been sufficiently nagged into posting a few. So here you go. I'll add to this album as the winter progresses...through June. :o)
